So yeah... I would call this a pretty abysmal collection, right? I mean, just look at it! Only two shelving units of games? I've seen people on NAge with 50 times the amount of games here. I've been told plenty of times that everyone has to start somewhere, and this is where I start.
About 4 years ago I tried to collect for what seemed like every system I possibly could. 4 years later and a few sales later, I narrowed my collection to games I actually play. Going for a full Genesis collection was what I wanted to do at first, but once I got 30 complete in box games in my collection I realized I had more than my fair share of sports games I was never going to play. I sold those off along with a few more games on assorted consoles and what I have here is what I held onto.
I've always loved collecting things. When I started collecting games it just made sense. I love games, I play games, why not collect something I can actually use? That's been my philosophy with collecting recently: buy games you will play. While I know there is satisfaction in going for complete sets and whatnot, but I just don't see the point in getting things you won't play. Granted, I have a few games I've been looking to get rid of, but I just haven't found the time to do so.
As for the collection I want to get the most out of, I grew up with Nintendo. Even though I was only 4 when the N64 first hit US shores, my Grandparents had a SNES at their house from when my uncle was a kid and I would always play it when I was over there. I had a friend who had an NES and I would play that at his house. I always enjoyed the (mostly) quality games Nintendo had to offer. So I really want to collect for all of the Nintendo home consoles and handhelds. But first...
I'm going for every Castlevania game for the NES, SNES, and GameBoy. Not an exactly daunting task, but there is a SNES game that might be a little hard to grab a hold of (you should know). There will definitely be a series of posts about this.
Anyways, thanks for reading! Now if you'll excuse me, I got some gaming to get done.
